Tasty Tees dreXeL Tshirt Launch Party

Thank you so much to everyone who showed up to show their support on Thursday night for the launch of my first tshirt. I definitely want to thank Toby Crabtree from Tasty Tees and Mike Yansen, my good friend and event promoter. It was definitely a successful party and a really good time. Sadly my photos came out horribly due to the low light conditions. I did set the ISO to 800, trying to remember what I learned back in junior high in photography class. And that helped a tiny bit. But not much. If I run across any better photos I’ll post them. Meanwhile, here’s what I got. In the photo are my friends, Drew Odom and Jason Pascall, the original “Smack is a Vampire” painting, and a Smack tee.

If you ordered tshirts, you’ll be getting them SOON. I know some people have already received theirs today. Aight, more soon…

XO, dreXeL

I Love You, Johnny

Today is Johnny Cash’s birthday. I love that man like crazy and it got me thinking about how he actually makes me proud to be an American. Growing up I wasn’t very patriotic. I wasn’t anti, I was just…ambivalent, I suppose. But thinking about it, there are a few things that definitely make me proud to be American. Here’s the short list:
1. The existence of NYC

2. Specifically, the existence of Brooklyn

3. Johnny Cash

4. Hip Hop

5. Pop art and culture

There are probably a few more things, but those are the first ones I thought of. And I know I’m not alone in being so proud of Johnny Cash. It’s practically un-American to not like him. NOONE talks shit about Johnny Cash. Or Elvis. And that’s how it should be.

Happy birthday, man. We miss ya. XOXO

One More Day…

The opening is tomorrow. I’ve gotten all the paintings done, all display tiles done, all paper work, promotion and marketing that I could possibly do done. Brandon helped me tons and will be working with me throughout the installation and hanging til the end. It’s so good to have a friend like that to help.

Oh yeah, one more thing I did. Couple days ago I made a website to go along with my BUMMER painting, since it’s become so popular. It’s BUMMER Army! It’s far from perfect, I have more and better designs to create for the tshirts and stuff, but it’s something and I did it myself in mostly one day. So I’m kind of proud of that.

Here’s one of the stickers that I ordered and which will HOPEFULLY be here by tomorrow.

What else? I dropped my brand new camera on the porch 2 days ago and it stopped working instantly. Lucky for me I’m only a couple miles from the gigantic CANON service building place. They fixed it, replaced the motherboard and had it back to me in less than 24 hours. For FREE. Even the guy working at the counter was surprised about that. He was looking at the paperwork and did the eyebrow thing, but tried to make it look like he didn’t. And then he said “Okayyy” like he was actually confused by it. I just told him it’s the perks of stardom. No no no I said no such thing. Ok enough of this chatter, I have a show to prepare for. More soon.

XO Erica
